Making People Better Players and Players Better People

2nd Annual Blackhawks Event To Inspire A Success

CHICAGO, IL-- On January 19, 2012, 1WORLD Sports teamed up with the Chicago Blackhawks to inspire local kids at the non-profits 2nd annual "Event To Inspire".

More than 70 kids form the Chicago Housing Authority came to the Blackhawks practice ice for a day of skating they'll never forget! Each kid (ages 6-14) arrived at the Blackhawks practice ice to find their names on their own locker filled with all the equipment they needed for the day.

The kids learned skills and drills from the very best (Blackhawks Skating and Skills Development Coach Kevin Delaney and coaches from the Youth Hockey Program). They even got to skate with Blackhawks goalie, Ray Emery! After skating, they took a break in the locker room to learn about nutrition, community and education from the exclusive 1WORLD Sports workbooks.

1WORLD Sports held an equipment drive at Winnetka Ice Arena on December 10th to collect used skates, gloves and sticks that helped outfit the CHA kids for the day. With the help of the non-proft, The Sports Shed, and several amazing hockey clubs, the kids had all the gear they needed to feel like pros on the ice. In fact, they got to go home with their own stick, gloves and jersey!

Everyone had a wonderful day on the ice!  All the kids who participated were invited to take part in an essay contest after the event.  The top 7 essay writers will get to go to a Blackhawks game with 1WORLD Sports and sit in box seats donated by Aon!
